A lot of darkness and density here. Surprised by that given the vintage! Stewed black fruit, a kiss of raisin, hot stones, olive tapenade, woodsmoke, garrigue. It’s pure on the front, but that 15.5% pokes out on the finish a touch. The Carignan really adds spine here, brining a sense of poise to this muscular wine.
