Domaine Philippe Vandelle
L'Etoile Savagnin
Golden yellow. High viscosity. Cherry like, oxidized flavor. Chalk and minerals. Herbaceous Spices. Matured citrus. Nuts. Medical herb acidity and sourness. Slightly honey sweet. Complexity even in young vintage. Savagnin Domaine Philippe Vandelle 19 @4675, Toscan, 240824-240921

Aug 24th, 2024Very good Savagnin from L’Étoile, a tiny appellation in the southwestern part of Jura, aged under a veil of flor for 3 years. Essentially, this is a younger version of their Vin Jaune, released halfway before it reaches the mandatory 6 years. Clean, pale yellow color. Fresh nose reminiscent of a Fino, with textbook aromas of nuts, yeasty and spicy notes, and some hints of green almonds. More fruit. Tart green apple flavors. Very fresh, mineral, saline, really tasty. Very long finish. Exceptional value
