Châteauneuf-du-Pape--my favorite destination on France's autoroute A7...at least for wine. At 110 kph, if you blink, you might miss the magical 32 sq km appellation. This modern fruit-heavy CdP was sumptuous velvet. Did show premature aging/oxidation, but was insightful to see its future. Lucid brick brown rims. Bouquet of vanilla, cacao & tobacco. Rich confitured cherry & raspberry, earth, lavender. Devolved tannins/acidity left subtle sweetness. I wouldn't cellar this, but it did make a decadent dessert.
