Perhaps I just didn't pair this wine well; either to my roast duck breast or my girlfriend's Coq au Vin or my friend's confit duck. All I know is that I didn't think it all that great. The nose is nice and floral, and adds quite a bit of spice aromatics. The palate is where I have issues. Too much oak tannin overpowers the delicate flavors of berry and clove. It was a nice burgundy, to be sure, just not a memorable or good one.

Feb 11th, 2016Off putting aromas of varnish and it went downhill from there. Zero pinot characteristics and lingering flavors that reminded me of the smell associated with exploded firecrackers. This is not the Rugiens, it is the Epenots.
