Floral and funky on the nose; big, meaty and herbal in the mouth, medium long finish. Really pretty wine, yet still powerful. Bought at the Domaine in France in 2006. Needs 5+ more years. After an hour, really opened...

Made in the central part of Saint-Joseph, on the steepest hill (above the village of Mauves) with granite soil (just like Hermitage) from 90+ year old vines. The name of the vineyard is called simply 'Saint Joseph'. This is the original part of the appellation. In other words 'Le Berceau' (the cradle). Powerful wine, dark fruit, smoked meats. On the bold side of the spectrum, but damn great.

Oh wow. What a change!! Beautiful floral nose, full of violets and rose petals. Nimble in the mouth, full and bright. Long finish. What a beautiful wine. Brought from winery in France, and stored well since.

Closed. Nose was strangely dead, but the SJ violets still shown through all of the oak and modern treatment. I bought this straight from the winery in France.
