Dierberg
Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay
I think a little less oak would have made this more interesting even though 500l barrels . Lemon zest , buttery ....

Apr 25th, 2016Drinkable but not exciting. Could use more integration btwn oak and fruit, and less oak overall.

Sep 20th, 2015While no one would accuse it of subtlety, there's lots of craft here. Mineral, oak, citrus fruit, a whiff of smoke. It all hangs together well, medium to full bodied. Went nicely with seafood pasta but I think it would really shine cutting through something creamy. Retails for $50 at lcbo, which is on the high side but I've paid more for lesser wines; decent value for a California Chardonnay, perhaps because the appellation is not that well known.
