Andreas Wallula Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2015 ‘Andreas’ is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wine, sourced from the Wallula Vineyard and made by superstar winemaker Giles Nicault. The wine was aged for thirty months in French oak (90% new) prior to bottling. Needing more than an hour in the decanter to be fully expressive, this wine awakens to black raspberry cordial, coffee ground and black tea aromas that impress. Silky smooth, the soft mouthfeel is excellent. The palate shows good richness with mocha, Creme de cassis, anise and red bell pepper flavors with hints of white pepper. Showing more restraint than the 2014 ‘Andreas’ this is a terrific effort in this warm vintage. Drink 2020-2035- 93

Color of dark purple with grey shades on the rim. Nose of oak, dried strawberry, plums, currants, spice, vanilla, aldehyde, and spicy note from alcohol. Nose is nice. Taste follows the nose, silky and mouthful, matured and soft tannins, a bit zesty feeling, well balanced of oak and dark fruits. Tasty. Nose of beautiful black cherry and blackberry, strawberry, ample acidity, currants, aldehyde, a bit tobacco leaves, a bit oak, and indeed a bit minty. Nose is decent. Taste of cigar box, refined acidity and mellow tannins, zest, dark fruits, mineral, and just a bit overpowering bitterness. Taste is quite dense and mouthful, and just a tiny bit sweet. Aftertaste is also quite long with addition of some black pepper note. Quite good.
