Ok, so Coturri does the "natural" wine thing, ie. there is no sulfur added, etc., and their wines can do some interesting things in the bottle with age, which is sometimes not a good thing. The nose is strong with VA, but there is still a bright spicy zin fruit character and this kind of grew on me. I detect a bit of RS that helps balance it in way. It's kind of like sipping on a zin shrub of some sort (the cocktail type of shrub, not a plant). Not sure I'd try this again, but a fun experiment.

The first vintage from the Sixteen 600 vineyard. Amazingly fresh fruit, zippy acids and clean as a whistle. Really delicious.

Natural yeasts, no additives, no chemical farming, in 1987. Superb showing today, clean, fresh, layered, complex, very very little VA. Tony Coturri deserves way more credit.

This wine can pass for a wonderful portal 15.1% bv. Will make a great reduction in a sauce far duck breast.
