Very nice aromatics. Couldn't mistake it for anything but Northern Rhone. Approachable on opening and with the new oak had a very modern style at first. Decanted in a "duck" decanter, so lots of exposure to air. Evolved to a more pleasant / less modern style quickly even while retaining some of the new oak. Served in Rhone / Syrah glasses. Meaty but not too heavy, good palate of leather, earth, smoke, and some mushrooms.

Served in Burgundy glasses. Floral and red cherry aromas at first. Secondary aromas of mushroom and leather. Medium mouth feel. Good red fruits on the palate. Light bacon drippings as well.
