Apr 7th, 2023A somewhat murky ruby color in the glass. Quite the expressive nose with a fair amount of blackberry and tobacco on the nose initially. Mint, chocolate, and a touch of cedar come later. Easily one of my favorite affordable Boudreaux bottles year in and year out. A relatively new chateau, this is indeed a very modern take on Left Bank Bordeaux. Medium bodied with firm tannins, this has cedar and oak all over it, but in a good way. Still needs a few more years to reach the full potential but as is, it’s fruit packed and juicy. The mid palate is very floral and structured. On the palate, the fruit and wood commingle just fine, without one depressing the other. Spice, fresh herbs, and smoked meat follow. Buy a case and drink one every year.
