Château Pontey is a Cru Bourgeois Estate in Blaignan, Médoc. Hard to find info, according to a wholesaler's website, this is a blend of 55% Merlot and 45% cabernet sauvignon from 25-30 years old vines. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in oak barrels for 12 months. Another great value Bordeaux in this excellent vintage (2016). The fruit is bright and juicy with good acidity, the oak is well-integrated, but maybe there is a little too much alcoholic heat in the finish. Still very good value at less than 12 euros. But for 2 euros more I'd definitely go for the Haut-maurac 2016 I tasted yesterday. Abv. 14%.
