Blackberry and blueberry aroma, but the fruit is weaker on the palate. The flavor brings in spice and black pepper, with mushrooms and acidity. The finish is tart, going in the direction of sour cherries, with wood, and a little graphite and ash. Although the elements here were a little disjointed, this was still a good table wine, and an outstanding value.

Color of ruby with purple and brown note, clear. Nose of nice berry like raspberry and blueberry, a bit spice, cocoa, and a bit alcohol strength in nasal cavity. Taste is round and fruity, dominated by plum note, a bit zesty and spicy, and a touch of anise. Aftertaste of some tobacco leaves, medium long and dried fruits sweetness. Nicely made.

I’m not quite sure how to review this one. Pretty straightforward flavors: blackberry, raspberry, some oak/vanillin, mild earthy notes, a couple slightly off green pepper notes. Overall a nice blend of fruit, acid, and tannin. Merlot seems to come through more than any other grape. Reminds me of a Washington blend or a cheaper cotes du Rhône. Does not strike me as Bordeaux. Enjoyable enough, but it’s more of an approachable modern red blend VS. old world. A couple demerits for masquerading, but still a nice wine if you ignore the label and what history suggests it’s supposed to be.

Hickory, fig, mandarin orange, and sun dried tomatoes on the nose. Strawberries, raisins and other dried fruits, and earthy, floral notes on the palate.
