Château Gazin
Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend
Pomerol, Libournais, Bordeaux, FranceWhat a great surprise. 1990 is crazy good right now, and not on anyone's radar.

Aug 22nd, 2016This bottle was in pristine condition. Kudos to whatever cellar it came from. Cork looked like a brand new release, color still a bright ruby. Unfortunately the wine wasn't very good. Lacks freshness commensurate with that bright color, and doesn't compensate by offering anything of intrigue beyond fruit, just a bit of dusty gravel and even a snap of bell pepper. Tannins are still a bit rustic so it doesn't really satisfy as "generic mature red wine" either. A very surprising performance from a vintage famed for being ripe, friendly, and forward - this is really quite austere.
