Subtle but well balanced. The nose is what makes this wine.

1st bottle of the nite was corked. 2d bottle was a relief, as this wine is still drinking surprisingly well. That said, it may be on borrowed time. Rich, deep color with only very minor shading on the rim. Kinda deceptive. Good nose. Soft, but thins quickly on the palate. Fruit is barely discernible. Think flagstone porch or gravel driveway on a rainy day... and you still get some of the backbone (albeit slightly osteoporotic??). Time to drain this if you got it, because the ferryman will be taking this one shortly.

Color of mixed brown and dark red, clear. Nose of graphite/pencil lead, leathery, tobacco leaves, some chalky canyons, stringent wax note, a bit spice, but really marginal fruits note. Taste of powerful tannin, acidity, and mouthful. Quite a surprise considering her age. Herbs, peppery spice, grassy note, ripe dark cherries also present. Aftertaste of lingering tannins, condensed sugar, spice, graphite, and grass note is a height of the tasting. Amazed by her strength and unique composition. After breathing for 30 minutes, the oaky flavor and cherry also come up beautifully. If the nose and the fruits note can be more powerful, this will be a perfect hidden g

Medium body with decent fruit and no tannins. Worked with the grilled lobster (surf) but not big enough for the steak (turf). From @garagiste_wine
