The run on 2005 Bordeaux’s continues...
I’ve had a few Ch. Pipeau over the years. This was easily the best. Not normally a wine for significant aging, this one has actually held up well. It is at, or just after peak, but it also wasn’t showing too many of its 15 years. It has some funk to blow off, but it opened up and was very peasant. 🙏🏻 Thanks JT.

Cherry and black licorice nose, very soft tannins, not quite the fruit it once had but a great Leathery Bordeaux.

Corked two months ago, was concerned the rest of our stock was gone. Not so! I was ready to convert and give up on the French. The nose is terrific and while not super complex, the wine still delivers. Bit of spice, wood, black cherry. Plenty of tannin left, maybe try another in a year or two.
