It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.
Reddish in color with light intensity.
Dry on the palate, and a little funky on the nose.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.
Showing red and black fruits with earth, tobacco leaf, herbs, wet leaves, peppercorn and barnyard.
This 48 year old Right Bank Bordeaux is surprisingly still drinkable, but not at its peak any longer. Soft and a little unbalanced.
Nevertheless, it’s nice to try these kinds of old wines, as they offer a unique taste and history that newer wines simply can’t match.
I paired it with a prosciutto and arugula pizza.
12% alcohol by volume.
87 Points.
