Château de Malle
Sauternes Sémillon Sauvignon Blanc

De Malle
Tropical aromas of coconut, ripe pineapple, tree sap. wonderful concentration of flavor with honeydew, dried apricot, kumquat, follows through with dried apricots and yellow sultanas. a little petrol for interest but not as much acid as I would like.

Nice sauternes, one of the few present in Colombia! Lot of honey and white flowers...

Interesting - back in 2019 I said to not hold additional bottles for longer. But I was wrong - this has improved with time and age. Deeper amber in the glass and while the acid hasn’t increased, perhaps the rest has subdued a bit leading to better balance overall. Have Sauternes so rarely - nice.

Have Sauternes so rarely. This one is delicious, even if we do have a sentimental connection to the producer. Perfect balance of sweetness and acid. Really nice.

Always a fan of Sauternes even though it’s not so in style these days. This one is a producer we got to visit when we were in Bordeaux in 2012. Always nice but at this stage just a smidge less acid than needed to hold things completely in balance in my view.

Nice rich Sauternes from a producer we happened to visit in Bordeaux when we were there in 2012. Tons of ripe fruit. Definitely could use significantly more acid on the finish. Not one to wait on.

Ever since visiting de Malle in 2012 we have been a fan. Rich and honeyed with mouth filling intensity, pronounced sweetness, and just enough acid to hold together.
