Such a pretty gold straw color in the glass. Varietally correct nose of apricot, sweet honey, pineapple, and raisin. While this is clearly not among the upper tier of Sauternes out there, the high points are certainly high enough. Lack of depth and sophistication? More than enough delicate fruit on the palate. High acidity causing slight imbalance on the mid palate? The creamy mouthfeel more than makes up for it. The palate follows the nose with more citrus fruit, along with apples, roasted nuts, and stone minerality. It may be Sauternes 101, but it’s a pretty fun class.
