Château Branaire (Duluc-Ducru)
Duluc de Branaire-Ducru Red Bordeaux Blend
What a delicious 16 year old Bordeaux from Saint Julien.
Dark ruby in color with a wide brick rim.
Full-bodied with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing black fruits with cedar, licorice, coffee, light earth, herbs, spices, tobacco leaf and dark chocolates.
Elegant and easy drinking once it opens up. Needs 3 hours.
This second wine is drinking very nicely now, although not from a great vintage.
Good by itself as a sipping wine. Would also pair nicely with game meats or lamb dishes.
13% alcohol by volume.

$80.

A lot more stuffing than I expected. Really nice.

In the mouth, earthy red fruit, some secondary flavors and good acid. Some unresolved tannins. Good mid palate, medium-long finish.

Sep 29th, 2018Honestly a pretty good wine for the price on a fancy steakhouse wine list. Nicely aged and so the slightly raisiny and other secondary notes are starting to come through. Good minerally core as a St Julien.

Apr 21st, 2018Medium body; vegetal finish; good aroma when bottle was first opened but quickly faded away. Not bad for a second label of a decent chateaux.
