Full of delicate, transparent red and blue fruit. Aching freshness. Licorice, violet, blackberry, vanilla, some just-baked butter pastry, a salty savory play-dough quality, and mint. Wow. Far and away the best Bel Air Marquis D’Aligre I’ve tried, blows away the ‘95 and ‘10.

The vineyard is a real outlier with the wines made by the same maker since 1950 and some vines on original pre phylloxera rootstock. The transparency of vineyard and romance of winemaking combined.
