Casa Valduga
Premium Raizes Cabernet Franc
Dark ruby in color, almost black, with a reddish dirty rim.
On the nose, black currants, plums, oak, sweet cherries, barnyard, vanilla, earth, vegetables, wet leaves, tar, violets, dark coffee, black pepper and graphite.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and nice legs.
Very dry on the palate with plums, currants, red cherries, oak, vanilla, cloves, tobacco, coffee, chocolates, peppercorn, spices, earth, vegetables, bell pepper, graphite, bitter herbs and black pepper.
Medium finish with grippy tannins and tangy pomegranates.
This is a nice Cabernet Franc from Brazil. My first Brazilian wine, actually. Interesting with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Bitter and earthy. Feels like a French Cabernet Franc from Chinon, but bigger and bolder.
A good food wine that will pair nicely with lamb dishes.
Definitely Stinky and austere, even after some air time. Very dry and potent. Interesting and different. Very much like an old world wine.
Thank you Alex and Steve for sharing this with me.
This 5 year old is still young and would be better in 5 years.
Needs a few hours to open up properly. After an hour of airtime it shows the big tannins.
Limited production. Aged for 8 months in French oak barrels. Grapes are grown in the south of Brazil.
13% alcohol by volume.
87 Points.
$25.

Jun 2nd, 20188 months in French oak. Slightly sweet but body is what I remember from Cab franc. Nice wine. Not too much depth but smooth and rich. I'd buy it...

Jul 1st, 2016Delicioso vinho brasileiro, um belo exemplar de cabernet franc, bastante fruta madura, um destaque para o figo, tanino macio e persistência média no palato.
