This is one of our go-to $10 supermarket reds, and in tonight’s case, also a great choice for the base of a beef stew. With some air there is plenty of rich ripe berry fruit, baking spice and vanilla. Med acid and tannin in balance, and (where the price point shows) a dry short finish. It’s boring to drink this stuff regularly, but it’s tasty juice, and always a crowd pleaser for guests who aren’t expecting anything special.

2011 vintage

Had it a year ago and didn't like it. What a difference of one more year in the bottle...
Dark red ruby in color.

Gorgeous on the nose with dark fruits, vanilla, smoke and black pepper.

Smooth on the palate with blackberries, figs, cherries, peppercorn and spices.

Medium bodied with fat legs.

A tad flat on the finish with flabby tannins and black pepper. A little too acidic, though.

Not as good as the zin. Though it has nice color and nice nose, but it is lacking on the palate.

A bit earthy and smokey which is rare for me to like, but this one is also a bit sweet and has a solid fruity finish. Easy drinker and a definite value for the low price

Great for the price, better than other options at this price point. Good inexpensive pick for casual sharing. Cherry, dry finish, for me the right amount of tannins.

Fruit and fun on the nose. Flavor is decent. Kinda standard CA stuff.
