Inky purple, nose shows meaty and blackberry with some alcohol even after an hour open; burnt vanilla, smoke, sour dark berries under pretty high acidity; spicy medium mid-palate finish. Not quite balanced, not quite complex, but an enjoyable food wine. It’ll stand up to almost anything, we had it with a sourdough vegetarian pizza.

This is a big wine, chewy with lots of sweet tannins. I like tannat grape but don’t know how to evaluate it. I go to Uruguay in 2021. I’ll learn more.

South American version of the northern Italians Lagrein grape.
Concentrated fruits, mid tannins with pleasant finish.
Probably good with meats
