Nanna's Short Cake Zinfandel
Lodi, Central Valley, California, USA
Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Strong nose of cherries, sweet strawberries, wood, licorice, vanilla, earth, vegetables, graphite, spices, peppercorn, smoke, candy corn and milk chocolates.
Medium bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with plums, cherries, blueberries, wood, cloves, vanilla, spices, chocolates, smoke, mocha and peppercorn.
Medium plus on the finish with soft tannins and black pepper.
This is a simple California Zinfandel. Still showing high alcohol, and not fully balanced. Spicy and easy drinking, though.
I had it 6 months ago and it is on the decline.

Nice fruity nose of blackberries, black currants, licorice, wood, vanilla, sweet cherries, strawberry jam, tobacco, spices, peppercorn, chocolates, dark coffee, earth, light vegetables, pencil lead and beef jerky.
Full-bodied, but not bold, with medium plus acidity and long legs. Rich and jammy.
Dry on the palate and extremely fruity with blackberries, sweet strawberries, sweet cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, eucalyptus, spices, herbs, chocolates, tobacco, beef jerky and peppercorn.
Medium plus in finish with very soft tannins and tangy raspberries.
This fruit forward California Zinfandel is spicy and well balanced with mild complexity.
Might be too fruity for some, but it is very tasty. Will not last too long, so drink up, if you have any.
I paired it with a charcuterie board and black olives.

Very different than I was expecting. The most interesting wine of the night for sure. Would definitely have again, maybe as a stand alone with dinner would be nice

Fruity, yes, as others have reported. For us, though, the peppery finish is just a bit too strong for our tastes.

More “sweet” than I normally like...but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I will definitely get another bottle!
