The Pinotage grape variety is synonymous with South Africa. It’s a cross between the grape varieties Pinot Noir and Cinsault however it’s incredibly unique in taste in my opinion.

I received this bottle as a wonderful gift from Jose & Nelio from Copper & Oak Liquor Merchants in Perth. Thank you!! These guys have a great selection of South African wines and you can order online too 😉

I found this bottle of Beyerskloof 2017 Pinotage from South Africa’s Western Cape a ruby red in the glass. On the nose it’s very earthy, think soil alongside stewed cherries & plums alongside a hint of meatiness. In the mouth that savouriness continues with some refreshing acidity in the form of juicy berry jam coming to the party. It’s a bold wine that went with our bbq meat perfectly 👌

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
