See previous review. I’m trying it again to see how it differed from the 2017 Durif from Berryessa Gap Vineyards. This Petite has Primitivo and Peloursin in as a field blend. The Durif is straight Petite Sirah.
This wine is juicy, big and complex. It’s not showing much softening from age, but it’s a lovely red as I mentioned in my previous review of the 2017.

Jun 7th, 2023It’s dark. Black-purple. Slightly edged in red. Nose is heady. Stewed fruits and dark unsweetened chocolate. Moss. Wet moss in there too. And some herbal extract. Not sure which. Flavor is rich. Slightly ‘sweet’ or fruity. Dark, ripe stone fruits. Plenty of acid cuts through though. Not stain the teeth and dry the tongue tannic as some Petite Sirah tends towards. There’s a smokey, savory element in there too. This is great. A big red, but one with elegance and style.
