I've heard many-a-time, in many a burg-circle, by many-a-respected sommelier that these wines are essentially gross and overoaked. Silly them, more for me-- these wines are delicious and, although not cheap, incredibly reliable amidst a world of unreliable burgundy. This one in particular was unbelievable, a Bourgogne rouge that would put many producers village/1er cru bottlings to shame. Charcoal dusted cherries, underbrush, unidentifiable exotic spices. At only 10% new oak, it's integrated wonderfully and is not in any way over-oaked.

A “simple” Bourgogne yet with the soul of Gevery shining brightly with earth and red fruits and heft and silky but firm textures and long finish. It’s fourteen years on and still got time left. Impressive. Can only imagine what his 1 crus are like.

Neuro reunion dinner at Agave 10/13/18. Opened at home. Suzanne's fav. Punches way above weight class. All the attributes of a good Burg in a balanced well structured package. Though it was 36 when bought in 11.
