Continuing to work my way through Beau Vigne’s line-up. To date, I’ve had their Cult, Romeo, and Old Rutherford.
This was poured for us when we visited a year ago, but I have no recollection...thankfully my wife does as she loves Zins. Talk about aromatics! Like a velvet glove punch to the face...wraps you with lavender, blueberries, blackberry pie, milk chocolate. The palate invokes more red fruit but also some bacon fat. The finish ends up being fairly peppercorn/spice driven, which I enjoy with Zins.
Sometimes you just crave bold, unabashed zin and this fits the bill. Haven’t had many Carlisle, Bedrock, Ridge or Turley, but this and Jessup’s zin are delicious.

Nice structured Zin. Powerful ripe fruit. Layered with blackberry, raspberry and bitters. Tannins are soft with bright acidity. Ends well, showing big signs of things to come.

This was a favorite during the beau vigne tasting so we took it home. Very ripe and spicy. hunnicutt has similar richness but not as zin-like. Maybe a little more sweet (but not to a bad level). The beau vigne reminded me more of a turley. I like the 2014 hunnicutt zin better than the 2014 cab while the 2013 cab was a showstopper. Both are 93

Jan 9th, 2017Terrific. Exotic spice, rounded and lush fruit, and nice tannin and acidity, too. Versatile. Can be drunk now or held.
