Bazelet Hagolan
Reserve Golan Heights Cabernet Sauvignon
It's Friday and I'm ready for my Cabernet fix. This time it's an Israeli one.
Dark ruby in color with medium intensity and a reddish rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, cherries, oak, vanilla, wildflowers, alcohol, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, earth, peppercorn, leather and tobacco.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, blueberries, currants, vanilla, cloves, licorice, toasted oak, vanilla and light pepper.
Medium finish with round tannins and spices.
This is a nice, gentle Cabernet Sauvignon from Israel. Well balanced with mild complexity and a nice mouthfeel. Feels like a Sonoma Cabernet.
Fruity and enjoyable by itself or with food, like BBQ steak. I paired it with a cheese plate.
Still young and will benefit from a few more years in the bottle and better after an hour of airtime.
Grapes are grown in the Golan Heights Appellation, on volcanic soils, and aged for 20 months in French and American Oak barrels.
Kosher for Passover.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
88 points.
$50.
