This makes a very, very strong case for Valtellina. Primal and elegant, oxymoron be damned. The wild savoriness of the Northern Rhone with a side of Piedmont's pretty fruit. Maturity-wise, I'd be shocked if it has ever been better than this, but would also be pretty surprised if it gets any better than this.

Wow. Deep wow. Had no idea what to expect. Amazing structure, iron-clad first impression with delicate drinkability. Cloudy at first with increasing color, an easy match for steak and pork belly with an uncanny ability to encourage further sipping. Just great. What a night at wallflower!
