I know what you may be thinking, a Cabernet from Napa is going to big power house. Well the Altra 2011 is far from it. I actually checked the back label again to see if it was a blend. Upon opening it you have a weak hint of raisin, currant and a touch of vanilla. When you taste it you had a very smooth velvety wine with soft tannins. Really drank more like a good Pinot in texture. There is some light hints of green pepper, a bit of new leather and soft fruits and what I think is ash but others may disagree. The finish is a little short as well. If I ordered this with a good steak I would have been disappointed. The rating I am giving it will be based as a standard cab. However as stand alone drinker (think blends) I would rate a little higher. Would I drink again? Yes if on sale. #napa#altra#cabernetsauvigion — 9 years ago
