Golden-tinged light pink. Very deep aromas of candied orange peel, apple sauce, peach and yellow flowers on the spicy nose. Clean, fresh and juicy, with very good size and mouthcoating texture to the ripe red fruit and apricot flavors. Finishes long, with a tactile mouthfeel. A serious rosato with sneaky concentration and complexity that just creeps up on you. Very well done. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, May 2017) — 8 years ago
Rich, creamy and radiant, the 2009 Cristal captures all of the natural generosity of the vintage while also retaining a good bit of freshness and aromatic intensity. Immediate and totally sensual in its allure, the 2009 will drink well with minimal cellaring. All things considered, at this stage, the 2009 comes across as relatively restrained for a wine from a warm year. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2017) — 8 years ago
The 2002 Clos du Mesnil is wonderfully pliant and expressive in the glass. The radiant personality of the year comes through in the wine's ripe, tropically-leaning flavors and open-knit personality. I imagine the 2002 will develop at a relatively fast pace by Clos du Mesnil standards. Even so, there is more than enough freshness underpinning the fruit to support at least two decades of very fine drinking. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2017) — 8 years ago
The 2002 Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart comes across as rich, powerful and opulent. This latest release of the 2002 was disgorged in July 2015 and finished with a Chardonnay-based liqueur whereas the previous release, disgorged in May 2014, was finished with a Pinot Noir-based liqueur. This is a distinctly vinous, almost shockingly raw, visceral Champagne from Billecart-Salmon. There is no shortage of volume or intensity, that is for sure. Stylistically, this year's release inhabits a whole other world relative to last year's release. Dosage is 4 grams per liter. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2016) — 8 years ago
The NV Cuvée 740, based on the 2012 vintage, is superb. Rich, ample and creamy, yet with striking translucence, the 740 has it all. A classic Jacquesson Champagne, done in the house’s contemporary style, the 740 is a rare young Champagne from this house that will drink well with no cellaring at all. Pastry, orchard fruit, spice, dried flowers and chamomile all flesh out in the glass, but it is the wine’s exceptional balance that places it among the region’s top bottles. The 740 marks another stylistic shift for Jacquesson in which the preference is to focus more on the character of a specific vintage by lowering the amount of reserve wines from the 30% range, where it has been, to around 20%, where it is now. The 2012 is a blend of fruit from vineyards in Aÿ, Dizy, Hautvillers, Avize and Oiry. Disgorged July 2016. Dosage is 1.5 grams/liter. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2017) — 8 years ago
Krug's 1998 Brut Vintage is an excellent choice for drinking today, as the classic Krug style is rich, alive and totally vivid. Honey, almonds, smoke, graphite and dried apricots are some of the many aromas and flavors found in this rich, enveloping Champagne. A wine of texture and depth, the 1998 impresses for its vinous personality and terrific balance. Lively veins of underlying acidity suggest the 1998 will drink well for many years to follow. This is one of the best bottles of the 1998 I have ever tasted. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2012) — 8 years ago

The MV 10 Fut de Chêne is a blend of 70% 2010 and 30% reserve wines. The flavors are bright, focused and lifted throughout. Even so, there is plenty of underlying Aÿ depth. Lemon confit, chamomile, mint and dried flowers are some of the signatures. Now that the Fut de Chêne perpetual reserve has a few more vintages in it, this cuvée is gaining in complexity, which is of course great to see. The MV 2010 needs at least six months in bottle to recover from its disgorgement. Even so, it is impressive today. Dosage is 8 grams per liter. Disgorged December 6 2016. One of the most pleasant surprises of the night, the 1996 Le Clos Saint Hilaire, is striking. Crushed flowers, mint, autumn leaves and sweet berries all lift from the glass. Sweet, pliant and generous, the 1996 shows exceptional balance and purity. I don’t see the 1996 as a super long-term ager, but it is fabulous today. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2014)

Bollinger's 2007 Brut La Grande Année is quite pretty. Elegant, restrained and understated in style, the 2007 is one of the more delicate young Grande Années I can remember tasting. Mid-weight structure and silky texture only reinforce that impression. Lemon oil, red berry, dried flowers and chamomile open up nicely, but it is the wine's overall feel that stands out most. Best of all, the 2007 will drink well with no cellaring. Disgorged: September 2016. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, December 2017) — 8 years ago
