Even though there are plenty of aweful wines made from Zin, I still consider it one of my favorite grapes - and tasting one like this makes it clear why. Rustic with olive and brushy bramble spices. Powerful but made authentically - drinking a glass you become instantly transported to some beautiful vineyard in Sonoma. Sense of place, pleasurable and interesting. This is American wine at its finest.

I like my Zins more jammy and fruity. This one was spicy with some tobacco. This Zin is more oaky than black fruity, which just personally I prefer. Nose is definitely full with a 13.9% alcohol that is expected. Still liked didn't love.

Jam but not over the top. Well balanced and right dryness. Perfect with a good spiced meat dish. Think tajine or lamb.

Lovely balanced Zin that emulates a more French style than big and brash US or Aussie style. The nostalgic memories of visiting this vineyard are super too.

Minimal intervention. Savoury and herbs. Really nicely integrated. Classy wine.
