Seriously cool stuff here. South African old vine tinta barroca! Dense and plummy but with animal bacon fat quality to it. A tad pricy, but worth it just to see what it's all about.

Wonderful wine. Restrained in a good way - relies on aromatics rather than weight. Just enough acidity for balance but leaves a suave and pleasantly smooth (not the best term but it was the bedt I could think of) feeling. Good stuff.

I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got wine?

Deep ruby colour with a pure, blue-fruited, violet perfume intertwined with crushed granite mineral notes and a slight dried-herb inflection. Ample tannin, though very fine. Plenty of the aforementioned fruit on the palate and some lovely, fresh acidity.
