Youthful purple. Expressive, spice- and mineral-accented cherry and dark berry aromas reveal an emerging floral top-note and a hint of vanilla. Sappy and alluringly sweet, offering palate-staining red/blue fruit preserve, candied violet, spice-cake and mocha flavors that deftly marry richness to energy. Deepens with air while maintaining urgency, and closes extremely long and spicy, with gentle tannic grip and resonating blue fruit and floral notes. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, December 2020)

Bright purple. Highly expressive aromas of mineral-tinged dark berry preserves, incense and candied licorice are complicated by a sexy floral nuance. Smoky and seamless in texture, offering alluringly sweet black and blue fruit, spicecake and floral pastille flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Finishes with outstanding clarity, mounting tannins and floral-dominated tenacity, leaving blue fruit and exotic spice notes behind. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, February 2020)

A few fun 4th Friday wines from tonight.

One of the better Paso zin blends I’ve come across. Obviously at such a young age it’s very aromatic showing crunchy cranberries and baked mixed berry pie, dark chocolate, cedar, and scorched earth. The palate reveals red and black licorice, sandalwood, underripe blueberries, and really wears its alcohol well as it’s rich but not a compact fruit bomb. Lifted profile. Delicious.

Paso Robles get down! Zin-Syrah-Mourvèdre. Dark, deep and saturated. Black fruit, spice and a healthy dose of licorice.

Inky purple, like squid ink, don't spill or you will stain the entire county inky! Explosive ripe fruit, dried flowers and smoke billow from the glass. Full bodied, masculine, and oozing with black and blue fruit, glycerin, licorice, pepper, sage and forest floor. The tannins are still soft and fine grained with a lingering mineral laden finish. #bigasswine #pasowine #inyourfacewine

Actually 2009. Different blend this year. 76% zin, 15 syrah, 9 Mourvèdre. Very balanced with the components each adding to the blend. Like.

Still fresh and vibrant at 7 years. Rich, sweet, decadent Zin blend. Ripe but balanced. Zin at its finest.
