Good choice to serve the '98 now. Really drying up (not drying out) and really showing little sugar. Loads of apricot, shellfish broth and saffron with a bitter chestnut honey botrytis finish. — 7 years ago
A bit surly at first but quickly comes around. Dazzles not with flashy fruit or trashy oak but with roiling layers of richness. — 8 years ago

A initial note of VA that will likely be off-putting to many. With air it mostly integrates and the wine weightless charms shine through. — 8 years ago
Just landed, so a little reticent but the density hints at something special when it settles down and the aromatics return. — 7 years ago

A surprising amount of life for its age. A consummate old Rhone nose with its Brett-y, gamey charm. The mid-palate starts to fade and just before the "not bad for its age moment" sets in a wave of richness and fruit comes rolling back. While I respect and sometimes enjoy what Guigal does I feel comfortable saying they don't make 'me like this anymore. — 8 years ago
