This wine is the same blend every year 80/20 Sangiovese and Malvasia nera. This traditional varietal is very difficult to cultivate it is a late harvester the last grape to be picked. They use all French oak new for the first three months then they transfer the wines to older barrels for the rest of the aging period. Dark cherry berry fruit with wild flowers dried meats and underbrush black truffle very complex bouquet of aromas. Silky smooth tannins with dark cherry fruit a host of dried floral and herbal notes through the finish drinking very nicely right now. Finish 40+ excellent+ — 11 years ago
On the nose; pears, macerated lemons, pineapple, grapefruit pith, honey, yellow lilies.
On the palate, the palate is dry. The minerality and acidity are exceptional. Pears, macerated lemons, pineapple, grapefruit w/pith, honey, yellow lilies and white flowers.
