Lovely mind zapper, as it is a delicate Gruner made with a Loire ideal, influenced by Vouvray & Muscadet.
Carrying a heft due to extended time 'sur lie' that lets the lingering mid-palate take on some oomph, this Gruner crackles with coastal scents, a hit of salinity, and a lively electricity from the native yeast, freshened acidity, and savory seaweed flavors that holler for seafood!
I'm thinking crab & chanterelles frittata, laced with bacon and cheese and a lazy brunch as a relaxed pairing to this gem.
Only 22 cases for the inaugural effort, but Mike Franchere (who is 6th generations deep into Oregon history!) will make more Gruner from these vineyards, and it'll be a stroke of luck for all of us to enjoy these bottles. — 6 years ago
