Quite dark, but no carmely taste. Expansive, with an attractive citrus character. A Riedel Sauternes glass brought its fruit forward, perhaps at a cost to the bouquet — 9 years ago
Thanks Charles Neal for writing eloquently and informatively about Armignac, and also thanks to David Driscoll, K&L Wines energetic spirits buyer for traveling the back roads and tasting through the barrels to get to this one. I'd go for old Bourbon, but it's not around. Cognac has shot itself in the foot, and Scotch is priced out of contention, so yes, Armagnac in general, and this one in particular, is underrated.
