50/50 Garnache/Carinena blend from very old vines from a cool corner of Montsant aged 50/50 in amphorae and steel. Cool climate in character - cool, fresh, berries, grapefruit, elderflower, hibiscus, sappy tree bark. And rocks, a lot of crushed black rock. Mineral. Light yet electric in its intensity. Enticing. Yet over time it opens up and closes in the glass. Confounding. On the palate I love the tannins - finely grained, dusty, as if clay dust. Giving a brilliant frame for the juicy, berry acidity. Not a lot of depth nor elegance. And yet, with time, this shows pure hedonistic juicy pleasure without any fat. Weightless. And yet with presence & energy. Not sure it’s worth its price though — 3 years ago
