Fruit-driven Cab from 20-25 years old vines in Isla de Maipo, just south of Santiago. Fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, and aged for 12 months in oak barrels. Quite jammy nose with aromas of dark fruit (blackberry, cassis, blackberry gummies), red fruit (strawberry, strawberry jam) and hints of bell pepper and tobacco. Medium-bodied, ripe fruit flavors. Actually not the beer indicated: this is a new one from Jolly Pumpkin called Isla Estrana. Fantastic sour saison. I'm terrible at identfying aromas in beer - and this one is tougher than most (but it smells great). Really complex with a lot of depth, but perfectly balanced through a lingering finish. Beside it was just bottled in June 2016, it has fresh strawberry and blueberry in the nose, followed by licorice and species. In the mouth is crispy, a little edgy. It need a few months in bottle yet to evolve and round. And well, that's my opinion for my own wine haha. — 10 years ago
