📖 François 1st, in 1518, planted 80 000 vines when constructing the Chambord Castle.
In 2015 all the vines were replanted in a "lieux-dits" called " l'Ormetrou" at less then 2 kilometers from the castle.
Loved the tour and the history 👌 — 3 days ago
Nose has under-ripe peach, lemon zest, cold chalk and wet beach sand.
Palate has pineapple core, dried lemon, sea spray and dehydrated peach.
Nice balanced acidity, no real herbal notes to speak of, a different expression than the traditional style. This wine should have a long life ahead, drink 2024-31.
The inaugural, single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc for Saracina from the Lolonis Vineyard; possibly some of the oldest SB vines in the US, planted in 1942.
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor Andris Nelsons and pianist Paul Lewis collaborate on the third of three concerts encompassing all five of Ludwig van Beethoven’s piano concertos in one weekend. Today's program includes OGONEK (Starling Variations, 2022; world premiere), FARRENC (Symphony No. 3 in G minor, Opus. 36) and BEETHOVEN (Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat, Opus 73, Emperor). This weekend has been an auditory pleasure, enjoying all five of Beethoven's piano concerti, and what a finale today! — 20 days ago

NV (2018 fruit); Last bottle! 🙁 Still delicious and prior notes apply.

‘Cool castle bro’ label. Deep red color. Smells like old books, dry cherries and unsweetened chocolate nibs. Flavors are strange with gun-smoke tea, fancy tonic water and berry pies. Plenty dry. Chewy. Complex. Winey, like a Winesap apple. It’s not raisin-y. It could have more depth and bite perhaps, but overall it’s very enjoyable. — 2 years ago
2015 vintage. First enjoyed at the source! We stayed at the Castello Vicchiomaggio in June of 2018 and was served this superb wine during the special 5 course meal at the Castle. Had to ship some home! Opened one of the bottles tonight to enjoy with some linguini and clams. Just as smooth and enjoyable as in Tuscany! Earthy and dry. Just know the remaining bottles are going to blow us away in 3 to 5 years. This is a wine with a ton of cellar potential. Going to order some more to put away for a long time. Will always think of our Italy trip when we drink this! — 4 years ago

I looove my Great Southern Rieslings which is why I was super excited to tuck into this kindly gifted sample bottle from Castle Rock Estate (thank you!).
It’s a 2021 Porongurup Skywalk Riesling which retails for approximately $20. Definitely food friendly and also cellar worthy.
In the glass it’s a hay like colour with plentiful lemon-lime citrus characteristics, notes of apricot, musk sticks and minerality. In the mouth it’s fresh, juicy and crisp. A fantastic aperitif wine and it’s also so Asian cuisine justice.
