Freedom Blend Bastardo Blend

Delicious blend 65% Saperavi 20% Rarā Neagrā 15% Bastardo. “Celebrating the free spirit. A courageous blend produced from three indigenous grape varieties native to Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia. A tribute to the people of these three countries that do not take their freedom for granted” cheers! — 2 months ago

Delightful and surprising. Crisp and fruity with a touch of caramel on the finish, quite unexpected. — 7 months ago

Moldovan wine and it was terrific. Bordeaux blend, Old World textbook Left Bank, not showing much signs of age, still inky & fruit forward. Nicely balanced on mid-palate, generous & elegant through finish. — 4 months ago

Nice one. Jancis Robinson just had an interesting piece in the Financial Times on Moldova. Purcari figured prominently. Interesting developments afoot…

Equinox

Rosu Sec Merlot 2017

Wow I thought it was a pomerol... 😱 All the markers are here: pencil shavings, black currant, blackberry, a tiny touch of leather and tar too. The only thing that's a bit different is a tiny green note too (green pepper bell) that's uncommon in pomerol and around there. The palate is still reminiscent of the pomerol style except that it's a bit thiner, and less opulent than a pomerol. The acid backbone is great, there is some blackcurrant, some oaky notes too. Gentle grainy tannins kick in the rear in a very subtle way before a long black currant, leathery finish with a tiny meat juice, salty touch in the end. I could have mistaken it for a sattelite pomerol in a heartbeat... Second solid Moldovan wine in a week 🤔 — 6 months ago
