Deep purple, dark but not opaque. Moderate viscosity.
Not a very strong aroma, but digging in uncovers a lot. Maraschino cherry, chocolate, Hawaiian punch, red vines, blackberry, and cinnamon.
Almost no sweetness, moderate acidity with burst at the tip of the tongue, fairly strong tannins for this varietal. Finish was kind of weak, tannins stuck around but not much else. — 4 years ago
Lots of citrus on the nose, green apple, grapefruit. Nice acidity, crisp finish. — 4 years ago
Light to medium body, not much opacity. Very nice ruby, almost garnet.
Cherry up front on the nose, lots of earthy notes. Leather, baking spices, not much other fruit.
Quite dry, lots of tannins, finish was pretty short. Lots more flavor when I let it sit and open up.
Overall, a pleasant dinner wine. — 4 years ago
Straw colored with a little hint of yellow. Very nonviscous, thin.
Pear is front and center in the nose. Kiwi, pineapple, bell pepper, slight fennel, very grassy. Not a lot of citrus.
Some residual sugar, very very acidic but not overly sour. Quite oily mouthfeel, nice long finish. Not a lot of alcohol at all. — 4 years ago
Medium garnet shade, very viscous, almost clear but still dark.
Cherries right on the nose. Boom.
Also, tobacco, dried ham, coffee, some raspberry maybe, and lots of tomato sauce.
Lots of acid, no sweetness, tons of tannins, hot finish. — 4 years ago
Medium yellow hue, almost gold. Some tears forming, but not as much as some oaked chardonnays.
Vanilla, butterscotch, Caramel, baked bread. The oak notes are really in control. Some sweet apple, peach, very faint citrus.
Low acidity, balanced sugar, not too sweet, huge mouthfeel, lingers a long time. Lots of alcohol in the back — 4 years ago
