Lighter bodied than expected with dusty rose and forest floor on the nose. Good acidity and moderate tannins with dried cherry and raspberry fruit flavors. 2012 received 94 points from James Suckling, I believe. Lovely champagne perfect for Christmas. Flavors of strawberry and raspberry with a nice tartness that paired perfectly with tamales, refried beans, wilted chard and guacamole. Not on a sommelier’s list of food pairing for this wine-but was perfect!

Not as big and bold as expected from David T'a comment below, but we are sipping the 2012. Very drinkable-not tight and tannins softer than expected. Balanced dark fruits and earth-pairing well with meat pie and lamb. Drinking at Azienda Il Casale near Pienza with killer view of the Mount Ariata.
