A really nice surprise and very different from most other Cotes du Rhone I’ve enjoyed.
A negocient wine from a legendary Gigondas house, 100% Syrah from two plots in Vinsobres and Gard
Medium Ruby with Medium (+) intensity and aromas and flavours of Black Plum, stewed black cherries, roast strawberries, violet, thyme, black olive and black pepper. The wine is meaty (raw bacon), gamey and smoky with leather, tobacco and liquorice.
Dry, medium (+) acidity, medium (+), soft ripe tannins, high alcohol but very well integrated, medium body, medium (+) intensity and finish.
Very good almost outstanding wine, just needs a little more depth, body and a longer finish. — 5 years ago
Crisp citrus and just ripe stone fruit with some wet stone and a little struck match.
Not overly complex but very well defined and linear with a medium (+) finish — 6 years ago

Not bad at all, not as sickly ripe and flabby as many, this is slightly restrained with black fruit, smoke, tobacco and a hint of mint with a modest 13.5% abv — 5 years ago
