Hearty, chewy red blend with a big peppery, vegetablish nose and a surprisingly complex blend of spices and minerals to taste. It’s much better than it should be at $10—it even lingers—and it makes me want to look into other South African wines. A rebuy for sure. Would pair well with red meat I bet. — 4 years ago
This is very good. Paired with steak and mushrooms. Much flavor on its own. Just a pleasant rich taste though no specific notes come forward. UPDATE: it dropped off pretty sharply on day 2-3 despite a vacu-seal. 2ND UPDATE: bought a 2nd bottle and was underwhelmed, found it overprocessed, the lack of any specific tasting note at all made it instantly forgettable. Between bottle 2 and the fast decline of bottle 1, I’m lowering my initial rating. — 5 years ago
A bottle came free with our hotel room. First sip was rough but we settled into it. Pairs well with sea breezes and the pleasant lowing of cows with fresh-cut grass on their heads. Notes of apple and pear and butter maybe? No particular note stood out. Except the note where it was free. — 3 years ago
I’ve tried 2 bottles of this. The first was ordinary, slightly tart. The second was pretty great at the $10 price point, not big but very straightforward with notes that are rosy and faintly lavender but that don’t in any way turn this wine baroque or sweet. Enjoyed it one night with Brussels sprouts and the next night with Mac and cheese with salami, worked well with both. At $10 this is a good choice—based on the second bottle. — 4 years ago
Creamy! Like it a lot at the price! — 4 years ago
Not especially memorable. A little bit of melon to it, maybe? As the chill wears off it goes downhill. — 4 years ago
A little pepper, a little bloody steak, a little smoke, a little—cedar? No one note rushes forward and it never feels very big, but it’s interesting for sure. — 5 years ago
Big and bold right off the bat but doesn’t linger. Cherry tobacco, then fading to prunes. Good, but there are more compelling things at the price (~$12). — 5 years ago

With some Mozzarella because we couldn’t find the good buratta. It redeemed Sangiovese after a run of bad Sangiovese. As usual with this winery, a great food wine. — 2 years ago
