A lovely expression of the Plavac Mali grape, with this one grown on steep coastal hills.
Inky, dense and heady nose that evolves from sweet blueberry, cola bottles to raisins, figs and then leather. This bottle had a slight chemical note to it, but think that may have been the glass.
Medium acidity, chewy tannins and a drawing, medium length finish. — 9 years ago
Vivat Bacchus Blind Wine Tasting August 16:
Wine 2
Really pale yellow, clear.
Spicy and pungent, with rose petal, hint of lychee and bursting with orangey, peachey juciness.
Guessed Gurwurtz, but the body should've been the clue...
Medium bodied, medium+ acidity and a clean, bone-dry finish.
Really liked this, lovely nose. — 8 years ago
I'm a sucker for a label, so i had to pick this up...
Lovely, rich yellow colour.
Mandarin orange first up, dried lemon peel and fresh apricot follow.
Bursting with juicy, fleshy orange before the medium+ acidity kicks in. Lovely rounded texture, some nice peach fruit on the back palate and a dry, stony finish.
Think it's my first experience of the Greco grape and theres a lot to like. — 8 years ago
Vivat Bacchus Blind Wine Tasting August 16:
Wine 1
Pale yellow.
Vegetal, with grass, green peppers, bit of typical fruit, hint of corn and maybe wood? Obviously a Sauvignon Blanc. Medium bodied, high acidity, crisp dry finish.
I wrongly guessed South Africa because of the woodiness, and that lack of citrus on the palate, but i think my glass had probably warmed up a bit too much.
Would like to try this again. — 8 years ago

Vivat Bacchus Blind Wine Tasting August 16:
Wine 3
Medium yellow in the glass.
Full of sweet, creamy vanilla oak, lemon cheesecake. Hint of funk leads me to South Africa...
Nice acidity and minerality, medium-full bodied crisp, dry, almost bitter finish. Cooler climate Chardonnay? I plump for Chenin. Error.
Quite liked this one, one of the nicer Semillons that i've had. — 8 years ago
