Fruity sharp-vinous nose. Not leggy but one thick leg slipping back down in one piece. A metallic red liquor. Volcano terroir apparently gives this a smokiness that melds well with the sharp woody foretaste of the wine. An almost heavy, almost viscous mouth feel. Dry enough to feel a pithlike drying of the mouth after a sip, but ending with a touch of sweetness. Weird and wonderful. — 8 years ago
Generally, a robust red. Outrageously dry for a red. Beautifully dark, the taste of wood. Still some blips of brightness in this dark beauty. — 8 years ago
Bright, tart, and fruity, with a little minerality. — 7 years ago
Tart fruity nose. Tarter on the tongue with an abundance of fruit flavors. — 7 years ago
The celebratory bottle for our first night in our new place, joined for a bit by Tim and Jackie. A slightly carbonated Chenin blanc. Not my favorite grape, too grapy on the nose and tongue. A nice deep whiteness, though — 8 years ago
A woody vinegar nose. a dark red, with some sharpness but lots of prune on the tongue. — 7 years ago
Flavor of old apples, which is not altogether bad, with some brightness to it. A little cheesy in the finish. — 8 years ago
A raisin-leaning nose. A depth so deep it escapes my ability to describe. An obvious pruniness but held in check by a dark beautiful depth so extreme it appears to be what's left of the grape after the grape is gone. — 8 years ago
Geof Huth
An intense yellow color with a distinct green hue. A funky and sour nose. The same on the tongue but engentles, becoming more mineral and more like a basic white, with warmth. A small underbody of sulfur makes by the sharp whiteness and sourlikeness. — 7 years ago
