Compelling. Clear Blue-ruby. Quiet nose- sweet red cherries and strawberries, neutral on florality and herbs. Clean. Medium bodied. Tart and pure red fruit including red raspberry balsamic vinegar on palate with a healthy undercurrent fine grit tannins and earth. Great interplay between tart and mineral that resolves silky and balanced. — 6 years ago

Piave is right next to Valpolicella, a new DOCG since 2010. Uses some dried grapes and has the alc levels and dark fruit profiles of Valpo ripasso. Like valpolicella, this wine has a strong grape leafy dill thing happening. Like Valpo, it's hard to drink more than one glass. — 8 years ago

Great vintage. Ripe deep red fruit, earth, tannins, acid, tobacco, anise, berry pie. Long finish on a big boy wine. — 8 years ago

Heady rich and complex aromatics: cinema buttered popcorn, orange citrus oil, ripe mushroom, sweet baking spices. Rich tongue coating palate has all that plus warmed buttered and spiced nuts, sweet orange rind, candied lemon slice, lemon pie, fresh dill, ripe white nectarine, nectarine stone, wet river stone. Thankful to see a touch of green in the honeyed golden hues, because the ripe developed notes and lack of Puligny acid precision hinted at premox initially. Perhaps not a long life ahead instead, but beautiful now. — 6 years ago

Just amazing. Indescribable complexity and balance, strength and elegance. A remarkable experience for Pinot lovers, especially because of its rarity. — 8 years ago

Correct white burgundy, elegantly straightforward. Good value- paid $24. Gonna be perfect in my risotto, peas and parmigiano recipe. — 8 years ago

Superb cellar selection from last night. Plenty of sediment but retains color intensity. Aromas of concentrated and sappy blue and black fruits. Some fresh leather and cedar. Really elegant, powerfully silky on the palate which picks up red currant and some ripe plum. Very clean. — 7 years ago
